In 1789 the Tree of Liberty was planted on the Belmont Estate where today the Duncan of Jordanstone College sits. It was planted to support the French Revolution and symbolise liberty and ownership over the land. This brief was given to us by the University looking for design suggestions to regenerate the area around the current Tree of Liberty. In collaboration with Natalie Houtioudi we used a root pattern in the landscape to tell the rich history of the Tree and guide visitors though the different stages and events of its life.
